Ingredients
- 8 oz (225g) high-quality dark chocolate (60-70% cocoa solids), chopped
- 4 oz (115g) high-quality milk chocolate, chopped
- 1 ½ cups (360ml) heavy cream (cold)
- 1 can (14 oz / 397g) sweetened condensed milk
- 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
- ¼ tsp instant espresso powder (optional, but recommended)
- For garnishing: Unsweetened cocoa powder, chopped pistachios or other nuts
Instructions
- Melt the Chocolate: Place chopped dark and milk chocolate in a heatproof bowl over a saucepan of simmering water (double boiler). Stir until melted and smooth. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- Combine Creamy Elements: In a separate bowl, whisk together cold heavy cream, sweetened condensed milk, vanilla extract, and espresso powder until uniformly combined and slightly thickened.
- Fold and Layer: Gently fold the slightly cooled melted chocolate into the cream mixture until just combined. Spoon or pipe the mixture into small serving cups or ramekins, filling about three-quarters full.
- Chill: Cover each cup with plastic wrap and refrigerate for a minimum of 3-4 hours, or ideally overnight, until firm and perfectly set.
