Description

Ingredients

  • 1 bunch (about 1 lb) medium-thick asparagus, woody ends trimmed
  • 812 slices regular or thin-cut bacon
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt (or to taste)
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper (or to taste)
  • Optional: 1 teaspoon brown sugar or maple syrup for glaze

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil, or place a wire rack on top.
  • In a bowl, toss trimmed asparagus with olive oil, minced garlic, salt, and pepper. If using, add brown sugar/maple syrup.
  • Take 2-3 asparagus spears and wrap a slice of bacon snugly around them from bottom to top. Repeat with remaining asparagus and bacon.
  • Arrange bundles in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet, ensuring space between them.
  • Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until bacon is crispy and asparagus is tender-crisp. Flip halfway through if desired.
  • For extra crispness, broil for 1-2 minutes at the end, watching carefully to prevent burning. Serve immediately.
