Ingredients
- 1.5 lbs cooked lobster meat, diced into bite-sized pieces (from 2–3 live lobsters or 4–6 large tails/claws)
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, plus 2 tbsp for toasting buns
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp lemon zest
- 1/2 cup good quality mayonnaise
- 2 tbsp fresh chives, finely chopped
- 1 tbsp fresh parsley, finely chopped
- 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- Pinch of salt (more to taste)
- 6 split-top hot dog buns or brioche buns
- Optional: Pinch of red pepper flakes
- Optional: Fresh dill for garnish
Instructions
- 1. Prepare Lobster: If using live lobsters, boil in salted water for 8-10 minutes, then transfer to an ice bath. Extract meat and dice. If using pre-cooked, simply dice.
- 2. Make Garlic Butter: In a small saucepan, melt 1/2 cup butter over medium-low heat. Add minced garlic and cook for 2-3 minutes until fragrant. Remove from heat, stir in lemon zest and a pinch of salt. Gently fold the diced lobster meat into the warm garlic butter until coated.
- 3. Craft Creamy Filling: In a medium bowl, combine mayonnaise, chives, parsley, 1 tbsp lemon juice, pepper, and a pinch of salt. Stir well. Gently fold the garlic-buttered lobster into the creamy mixture.
- 4. Toast Buns: Melt 2 tbsp butter in a large skillet or griddle over medium heat. Lightly butter the out-facing sides of your buns. Place buns top-side down and toast for 2-3 minutes per side, until golden brown and crunchy.
- 5. Assemble & Serve: Generously fill each toasted bun with the Garlic Butter Lobster Filling. Garnish with extra chives or dill if desired. Serve immediately.
