Hawaiian Roll Grilled Cheese

  • Total Time: 13 minutes
  • Yield: 12 servings

Description

Indulge in the perfect harmony of sweet and savory with this easy Hawaiian Roll Grilled Cheese. Golden-brown, crispy rolls encase a gooey, melt-in-your-mouth cheese filling that’s ready in minutes.

Ingredients

  • 12 Hawaiian sweet rolls
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter, softened (or mayonnaise)
  • 8 oz cheddar cheese, freshly shredded
  • 8 oz Monterey Jack cheese, freshly shredded
  • ¼ tsp garlic powder (optional)
  • ¼ tsp onion powder (optional)

Instructions

  • 1. Carefully slice each Hawaiian roll horizontally through the middle, separating the top and bottom halves.
  • 2. In a small bowl, mix softened butter (or mayonnaise) with optional garlic powder and onion powder. Spread this mixture evenly on one side of each roll half.
  • 3. Place the bottom halves of the rolls, buttered-side down, in a non-stick skillet over medium-low heat.
  • 4. Layer a generous amount of shredded cheddar and Monterey Jack cheese onto each bottom half. Top with the remaining roll halves, buttered-side up.
  • 5. Cook for 2-4 minutes per side, or until the rolls are golden brown and the cheese is completely melted and gooey. Gently press down with a spatula.
  • 6. Serve immediately while hot and melty.
