Description
Quickly sear juicy shrimp and coat them in a sticky, sweet, and savory honey garlic glaze. This easy recipe delivers maximum flavor in minimal time.
Ingredients
- 1 lb large raw shrimp (peeled, deveined, tails on or off)
- 1 tbsp oil (avocado, vegetable, or canola)
- For the Honey Garlic Sauce:
- ¼ cup honey
- 2 tbsp soy sauce (or tamari/coconut aminos for gluten-free)
- 3–4 cloves garlic, minced or grated
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 tsp toasted sesame oil
- 1 tsp cornstarch
- ¼ – ½ tsp red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
- For Garnish:
- 2 tbsp fresh parsley or green onions, chopped
Instructions
- 1. Prep Shrimp: Thaw shrimp if frozen. Peel and devein, then pat very dry with paper towels.
- 2. Make Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, rice vinegar, sesame oil, cornstarch, and red pepper flakes (if using) until smooth.
- 3. Sear Shrimp: Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add shrimp in a single layer (cook in batches if needed). Sear for 1-2 minutes per side until opaque pink. Remove shrimp and set aside.
- 4. Glaze Shrimp: Reduce heat to medium. Pour sauce into the skillet. Simmer, whisking constantly, for 1-2 minutes until thickened and glossy. Return shrimp to the pan and toss to coat evenly. Cook for another minute to meld flavors.
- 5. Garnish and Serve: Remove from heat, garnish with fresh parsley or green onions, and serve immediately with your favorite sides.
