These Mini Grilled Cheese Hawaiian Rolls are your new go-to snack! Sweet and savory, they feature gooey melted cheese encased in a golden-crisp Hawaiian roll.
Ingredients
- 1 (12-count) package Hawaiian sweet rolls
- 8–10 slices (about 4–6 oz) cheese, e.g., cheddar, Monterey Jack, provolone
- 2–3 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened, or mayonnaise
- Optional: pinch of garlic powder, pinch of salt
Instructions
- 1. Prepare the Rolls: Carefully slice the entire block of Hawaiian rolls horizontally through the middle, separating the top and bottom.
- 2. Apply Butter or Mayonnaise: Generously spread softened butter or mayonnaise evenly onto the cut side of both the top and bottom sheets of the rolls.
- 3. Assemble the Sandwiches: Lay the bottom sheet of rolls (butter-side down) in your skillet. Arrange cheese slices over the entire bottom sheet. Place the top sheet of rolls (butter-side up) over the cheese, gently pressing down.
- 4. Grill to Golden Perfection: Heat a large non-stick skillet or griddle over low to medium-low heat. Carefully transfer the assembled rolls block into the warm pan. Cook for 4-5 minutes per side, or until golden brown and the cheese is fully melted and gooey. Press gently with a spatula occasionally.
- 5. Serve Immediately: Remove from heat. Using a sharp knife, cut along the original scoring of the rolls to separate them into individual mini grilled cheese sandwiches. Serve hot and enjoy!
