Ingredients
- 2 ripe but firm bananas
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter (or coconut oil for dairy-free)
- 1–2 tablespoons granulated sugar or maple syrup (to taste)
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon (or more, to taste)
- Optional: a tiny pinch of salt, 1/4 tsp vanilla extract (added after cooking)
Instructions
- Prepare Bananas: Peel and slice bananas into even 1/2 to 3/4 inch rounds.
- Melt Butter: Heat a non-stick skillet or cast-iron pan over medium-high heat. Add butter and melt until slightly foamy.
- Add Bananas & Sweetener: Arrange banana slices in a single layer in the hot pan. Immediately sprinkle sugar (if using) over bananas.
- Season & Fry First Side: Sprinkle cinnamon over bananas. Cook undisturbed for 2-3 minutes, until golden brown and caramelized on the bottom.
- Flip & Finish: Carefully flip each banana slice. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until golden brown and tender. Remove from heat and serve immediately.
