Discover how to make a tasty basil blueberry lemonade with our step-by-step guide. This easy-to-make drink offers the best flavor for any occasion.
Ingredients
- 1 cup fresh blueberries
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup water (for simple syrup)
- 10–12 large fresh basil leaves
- 1 to 1.5 cups freshly squeezed lemon juice (from 6–8 lemons)
- 4–6 cups cold water (for dilution, or to taste)
- Ice
- Fresh blueberries, lemon slices, and basil sprigs for garnish
Instructions
- Make the Blueberry Basil Simple Syrup: In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup water, 1 cup granulated sugar, 1 cup fresh blueberries, and 10-12 large basil leaves. Bring to a gentle boil, stir until sugar dissolves, then reduce heat and simmer for 5-7 minutes, mashing blueberries. Remove from heat and cool completely.
- Strain the Simple Syrup: Once cool, strain the syrup through a fine-mesh sieve into a clean jar, pressing on solids to extract all liquid. Discard solids.
- Extract Lemon Juice: Roll lemons on a countertop before slicing and juicing them to get 1 to 1.5 cups of fresh lemon juice. Strain to remove seeds and pulp.
- Assemble Lemonade Concentrate: In a large pitcher, combine the cooled blueberry basil simple syrup with the fresh lemon juice. Stir well.
- Serve: Fill glasses with ice, pour in concentrate, and dilute with 4-6 cups of cold water (or to taste). Garnish with fresh blueberries, lemon slices, and a basil sprig.
