Baked Brie with Fig Jam

  • Total Time: 5 minute
  • Yield: 8-10 servings

Description

Indulge in this elegant yet incredibly simple appetizer that’s perfect for any occasion. A warm, gooey wheel of Brie topped with sweet fig jam, often encased in a flaky puff pastry crust.

Ingredients

  • 1 (12 to 16-ounce) wheel of Brie cheese
  • 1/2 cup good quality fig jam or preserves
  • 1 sheet (10 oz) frozen puff pastry, thawed (optional)
  • 1 large egg, beaten with 1 tbsp water (for egg wash, if using pastry)
  • 1/4 cup chopped pecans or walnuts, toasted (optional)
  • 12 tbsp honey, for drizzling (optional)
  • Fresh thyme or rosemary sprigs, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). If using puff pastry, unroll it onto a lightly floured surface or parchment paper. Place the Brie wheel in the center of the pastry.
  • Spoon the fig jam generously over the top of the Brie.
  • If using puff pastry, bring the edges up and over the Brie, pinching to seal. Brush with egg wash. If not using pastry, place Brie in a small oven-safe dish and top with jam.
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes (with pastry) or 15-20 minutes (without pastry), until golden brown and melted.
  • Let rest for 5-10 minutes. Drizzle with honey, sprinkle with toasted nuts, and garnish with fresh herbs before serving.
