  • ¼ cup (50g) Light Brown Sugar, packed
  • 1 ½ teaspoons Baking Powder
  • ½ teaspoon Baking Soda
  • ½ teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon Ground Nutmeg (optional)
  • ¾ cup (180ml) Milk (whole milk recommended)
  • 2 Large Eggs, room temperature
  • ½ cup (113g) Unsalted Butter, melted and slightly cooled
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • For the Cinnamon Sugar Topping:
  • ¼ cup (56g) Unsalted Butter, melted
  • ½ cup (100g) Granulated Sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Ground Cinnamon

Instructions

  • 1. Prepare Your Pan: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line with parchment paper.
  • 2. Combine Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together flour, ¾ cup granulated sugar, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, 1 tsp cinnamon, and nutmeg (if using).
  • 3. Mix Wet Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together milk, eggs, ½ cup melted butter, and vanilla extract.
  • 4. Combine Wet and Dry: Pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients. Mix with a spoon or spatula until just combined. Do not overmix.
  • 5. Pour and Bake: Pour batter into the prepared loaf pan. Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • 6. Cool Slightly: Let bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
  • 7. Prepare Cinnamon Sugar Topping: While bread is warm, melt ¼ cup butter in a shallow dish. In another shallow dish, combine ½ cup granulated sugar and 1 tbsp cinnamon.
  • 8. Coat Warm Bread: Brush all sides of the warm bread generously with melted butter. Immediately roll the buttered bread in the cinnamon sugar mixture until evenly coated.
  • 9. Cool and Serve: Place bread back on the wire rack to cool completely, allowing the coating to set. Slice and serve!
