Ingredients

  • 1 (12-count) package King’s Hawaiian Sweet Rolls
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or cheese blend of choice)
  • 1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese (or cheese blend of choice)
  • Optional: 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Optional: 2 tablespoons chopped fresh chives for garnish

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or spray lightly with non-stick spray.
  • Carefully slice the entire slab of Hawaiian rolls horizontally through the middle, creating a top and bottom layer. Keep the rolls connected if possible.
  • In a small bowl, melt the butter. Stir in the garlic powder, if using.
  • Using a pastry brush, generously coat the cut sides of both the top and bottom halves of the Hawaiian rolls with the melted butter mixture.
  • Place the bottom half of the buttered rolls onto the prepared baking sheet.
  • Evenly layer the shredded cheddar and Monterey Jack cheeses over the entire bottom half.
  • Carefully place the top half of the buttered rolls back onto the cheese layer.
  • Bake for 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly, and the tops of the rolls are golden brown and crispy.
  • Remove from the oven, let cool for a minute, then slice into individual mini grilled cheese rolls.
  • Garnish with fresh chives, if desired, and serve immediately while hot and gooey.
