Description
These pepperoni pizza roll breadsticks are an irresistible twist on a classic, featuring flaky puff pastry wrapped around savory pepperoni and gooey mozzarella. Perfect as a snack, appetizer, or a fun addition to any meal, they’re surprisingly easy to make and always a crowd-pleaser.
Ingredients
- 1 sheet (10 to 14 ounces) store-bought puff pastry, thawed
- 3 ounces thinly sliced pepperoni
- 1 cup shredded low-moisture, part-skim mozzarella cheese
- 1 large egg
- 1 tablespoon water or milk (for egg wash)
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano (optional)
- Marinara sauce, for dipping
Instructions
- 1. Prep Oven and Puff Pastry: Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Ensure puff pastry is thawed but still cold.
- 2. Layer Fillings: Unroll puff pastry onto the prepared baking sheet. Arrange pepperoni evenly over the pastry, leaving a small border. Sprinkle mozzarella cheese, garlic powder, and oregano (if using) over the pepperoni.
- 3. Roll Tightly: Starting from one long side, carefully roll the pastry into a tight log. Pinch the seam to seal it well.
- 4. Slice Rolls: Using a sharp knife, slice the log into twelve 1-inch thick rounds. Place each slice cut-side up on the baking sheet, leaving some space between them.
- 5. Egg Wash & Bake: Whisk the egg with water/milk to create an egg wash. Brush the tops of the rolls. Bake for 12-18 minutes, or until puffed, golden brown, and cheese is bubbly.
- 6. Serve: Let cool slightly on the baking sheet, then transfer to a wire rack. Serve warm with marinara sauce for dipping.
