  • Total Time: 4 minute
  • Yield: 24 cookies

Description

Indulge in the ultimate chocolate decadence with these fudgy, chewy, and intensely flavorful cookies. Topped with flaky sea salt, they strike the perfect balance between sweet and savory.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup (113g) unsalted butter
  • 4 ounces (113g) unsweetened chocolate, chopped
  • 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup (100g) packed light brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup (90g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup (22g) unsweetened natural cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon fine sea salt
  • 1 cup (170g) chocolate chips or chunks (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon flaky sea salt, for sprinkling

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone mats.
  • Melt butter and unsweetened chocolate together in a heatproof bowl set over simmering water or in the microwave. Stir until smooth, then set aside to cool slightly.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together granulated sugar, brown sugar, and eggs until light and aerated, about 2-3 minutes.
  • Pour the slightly cooled chocolate mixture into the egg mixture and whisk until just combined.
  • In a separate small bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and fine sea salt.
  • Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and fold gently with a spatula until just combined. Do not overmix.
  • If using, fold in the chocolate chips or chunks.
  • Using a 2-tablespoon cookie scoop, drop dough onto prepared baking sheets, leaving 2 inches between cookies. Sprinkle each dough ball generously with flaky sea salt.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes, rotating halfway through, until edges are set and centers still look slightly soft.
  • Let cool on baking sheets for 5-10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
